St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School seeks a dynamic fundraising professional with a passion for education to serve as Assistant Director of Advancement. The Assistant Director of Advancement is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the SAS Fund—the school’s annual giving program. Outstanding candidates will be outgoing, self-directed, possess exceptional relationship-building and data analysis skills, and have demonstrated experience in leading teams and programs to successful results.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define strategies, and lead and implement plans to achieve the annual fundraising and participation goals of the SAS Fund.
  • Plan, organize, and implement the calendar of SAS Fund activities.
  • Coordinate appeals and solicitations for all constituencies in partnership with other departments and with regard for other school fundraising initiatives.
  • Prepare and produce related fundraising and stewardship collaterals.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers representing various constituencies, and support same through accurate and timely communications and reporting.
  • Regularly analyze data, reports, and operations to ensure program growth and success.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a small portfolio of high-level SAS Fund donors, and assist in the identification of potential major gift donors. Some travel will be required.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned by the Director of Advancement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Commitment to St. Andrew’s-Sewanee’s mission and vision.
  • Minimum of a B.A. or B.S degree
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated success in fundraising as a professional or volunteer
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with members of the SAS, business, and church communities
  • Ability to motivate and manage volunteers
  • Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office, G Suite, databases, and database management and reporting is required. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and the use of social media for fundraising are a plus
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing situations appropriately
  • Strong work ethic, generous spirit, and excellent speaking and writing skills
  • Comfort with communicating via telephone

This is a 12-month, fulltime position and reports to the Director of Advancement. Schedule includes working some weekends and nights.

Applicants with additional language fluency and boarding school and/or Episcopal Church experience will be given special consideration.

COMPENSATION

Salary is dependent on education and experience. Benefits include a tuition remission plan, health and dental insurance, worker’s compensation, short-term and long-term disability, group life insurance, TIAA-CREF retirement program participation, and eligibility for grants for professional enrichment and continuing education.
