Saint Mary’s School is conducting a search for Assistant Head of School, a key new position on the leadership team. For 178 years, Saint Mary’s School has prepared young women for the challenges and opportunities of their generation. It is a boarding and day school for girls that is steeped in tradition yet forward thinking, continually striving to build a learning environment for today’s young women.

Everything that happens at Saint Mary’s School is guided by one question: What is best for girls? In and out of the classroom, Saint Mary’s challenges girls to embrace the habits of a lifelong learner and provides an environment where girls can find the courage to take risks, expand their boundaries, and think in new and creative ways. Saint Mary’s inspires every girl to be herself by providing opportunities for choice and independence; the space to try, fail, and try again; and the chance to define success as she navigates her own life. Whether it is delving into a new academic subject, leading a team on the playing field, captivating an audience on stage, or taking a leadership role in student government, Saint Mary’s School offers possibilities designed to develop the “whole” girl.

Saint Mary’s Head of School, Brendan O’Shea, works closely with the admission and development offices to continue the school’s enrollment momentum and to make progress on an ambitious campus master plan. As he focuses on Saint Mary’s long-term financial health and advancement, the school has decided to create the Assistant Head of School position to ensure that student programs are in the hands of someone with the experience, time, and authority to ensure their ongoing quality and improvement.

Building on a legacy of academic excellence, personal achievement, and a rich Episcopal heritage, the Assistant Head will work hand-in-hand with an outstanding and dedicated leadership team and faculty to help each girl find the courage to believe in herself and do more than she ever thought possible. The ideal candidate for this position is a person who believes this type of work at this type of school is her dream job.
