In consultation with colleagues in the middle school, upper school and specific department and other members of the Arts team of teachers, the Band Director is responsible for teaching a full load of classes.
• Successfully plan, organize and teach band classes (5th Beginning Band, 6th Intermediate Band, 7th Intermediate Band, 8-12 Advanced Band)
• Lead summer band rehearsals in preparation for marching band/football performances
• Successfully conduct summer band camp
• Prepare marching field for practice
• Attend all football games and successfully direct the band (transportation, food, performance, etc.)
• Plan, organize and prepare for annual Holiday Concert and Spring Concert performed each year
• Plan, organize and prepare for church performances
• Prepare for pep rallies
• Demonstrates an attitude of flexibility with regard to curriculum decisions in order to meet the instructional needs
• Instructs and encourages individual students; establishes goals for individualized students and small groups
• Manages the class and ensures engagement and discipline
• Communicates with parents or other interested parties
• Collaborates with colleagues and seeks feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement
• Reflects on instructional practices to meet individual professional development goals
• Assumes personal responsibility for student achievement
• Actively participates in professional development, grade level, and department meetings
• Represents St. Paul’s Episcopal School in a positive way in the Greater Mobile community
