Berkeley Preparatory School enjoys a very strong reputation and continues to experience strong interest, full enrollment and wait lists at each division. Tampa is a vibrant, very livable city, which has in recent years experienced strong population growth and significant investments in the city’s infrastructure.

The school is thriving under the leadership of its Headmaster, Joseph Seivold, who is in his eighth year, and who continues to be energized in leading Berkeley. A positive school culture is markedly present at Berkeley Prep. During IT’s visit, members across the school community shared a strong appreciation for being part of the Berkeley community. Faculty consistently spoke of a supportive parent body, the school’s strong support of professional development and funds for teaching resources. Located on a gorgeous 86-acre campus, Berkeley Prep has excellent facilities. The school’s 29 buildings include classroom buildings, a performing arts center, two libraries, a student center, and enviable athletic facilities. Additions to campus facilities over the past seven years include: most recently, an Early Childhood Center, home to grades PK-1, which definitely met the project’s goal of creating an irresistible space for the school’s earliest learners; a 53,000-square-foot field house; the Berkeley Café, the school’s dining facility for faculty, staff and Middle and Upper Division students; and a 75,000-square-foot Arts & Sciences building, home to Middle and Upper Division Fine and Visual arts, as well as Upper Division math and science. This building features state-of-the-art science labs, an intimate recital hall, art gallery, spacious art classrooms, and beautiful administrative spaces.

Berkeley’s faculty, staff and student body reflect the diversity of its surrounding communities. 33% of students and 25% of Berkeley faculty identify as people of color; faculty hail from more than 10 countries.
