Position Summary

All Saints’ Episcopal Day School is seeking a Head of Middle School to provide leadership and expertise in securing and enhancing the quality of its strong middle school program. The Head of Middle School reports to the Head of School and serves as a member of the senior administrative team of the School. 

The Head of Middle School supervises approximately 30 faculty and staff members serving a middle school of 250 students in grades 5–8.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position. The position provides attractive compensation and benefits in line with regional independent and Episcopal school norms. The start date for the position is July 1, 2019.

Position Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission of All Saints’ Episcopal Day School
  • Master’s Degree in Education or closely related field
  • At least five years of teaching experience or teacher leadership
  • Related and successful prior experience in middle school leadership position(s), preferably in an independent/private school setting  
  • Experienced student-centered educator with a strong knowledge of middle school curriculum and the desire to institute best practices by leading a collaborative team
  • Ability to connect with middle school students
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of this age group and their needs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive attraction to the Southwest region generally and the Phoenix area specifically

 General Position Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly, positively, and effectively with students, parents, and faculty members
  • Work closely with parents and faculty to support children academically, socially, and emotionally
  • Provide leadership, vision, and professional development for a talented faculty
  • Select and retain, evaluate, and develop faculty members of the highest quality and dedication
  • In conjunction with the faculty and Administrative Team, develop and supervise the educational program and curricula for middle school, in keeping with the mission of the School. Exercise initiative in encouraging thoughtful and effective educational innovation for our challenging program
  • Facilitate efforts to encourage a collaborative faculty and community culture
  • Participate actively and collaboratively as a member of the school’s administrative leadership team
  • Communicate frequently with the Head of School and administrative team about faculty, students, and programming
  • Work closely with the Admissions Office in student recruitment, admission, and retention
  • Serve as key ambassador for middle school with internal and external constituencies
  • Work with the Head of School on high school placement
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Head of School

 All Saints' Episcopal Day School in Phoenix, Arizona, is a parish-affiliated Pre-K through Grade 8 coeducational institution enrolling approximately 515 students.
