School Strategies and Solutionsis pleased to be leading the search for the next Head of School at The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge to commence on July 1, 2020. Consultants Bob Hallett and Ted Lingenheld are partnering with the search committee and will be supported by our extraordinary support team.

Enrollment for grades PreK3-12 is 935 students in the current academic year, with a diverse, multi-talented student body. This current enrollment matches both the size of the facilities and the athletic program. Sixty-five percent of the 110 faculty members hold advanced degrees and the student-teacher ratio is 10:1. Hugh McIntosh will step down as Head of School in June of 2020, completing a decade of service and dynamic leadership at this much-heralded school.

Located on 55 acres, the school features 13 architecturally consistent campus buildings that include separate buildings for each of the three divisions, a 37,000 square-foot Visual and Performing Arts Center, two full libraries, a Gothic-inspired chapel, two full-sized gyms, and a sports complex. In addition, twenty-four acres adjacent to the school have been recently acquired.

The school has a healthy balance sheet with total endowed assets of $11,935,254 as of June 2018. The board of trustees operates in a fiscally responsible manner by annually approving a balanced operating budget. Deeply engaged, this board models best practices in a manner that could be an archetype for governance among all member schools of NAIS. There is a recently-approved strategic plan in place with a comprehensive range of headings designed to continue the momentum established under the retiring head of school.

Consultants will submit to the search committee a distinguished, mission-compatible and diverse candidate pool. Competitive candidates will present inspiring personal and professional attributes, a passion and commitment to educating students within a PK-12 school setting. In addition an understanding of Episcopal School practice and mission is a desirable asset. If you are considering such an opportunity or know someone who is a current or aspiring school leader, and who might wish to explore ESBR, please contact us to discuss the school, search process and necessary qualifications.
