The Episcopal School of Nashville is seeking a Learning Specialist Teacher for the 2020-2021 academic school year. Located on the grounds of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church in East Nashville, the school opened its doors in the summer of 2016. A Learning Specialist Teacher at Episcopal School of Nashville would provide individualized academic support to students in grades PK – 6th grade. They would work closely with students, teachers, and parents to develop strategies tailored to each student’s particular learning style, to support their academic progress.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Assessing students to identify those who have learning differences
  • Ability and willingness to work with students in subject areas of both reading (including phonemic awareness) and mathematics
  • Targeted training (i.e. Orton-Gilligham, SPIRE, Take Flight) for differences such as dyslexia, processing disorders, etc.
  • Adhere to guidelines, procedures, and policies in the Employee Handbook
  • Help children with organization, problem solving, and conflict resolution to support individual needs
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, teachers, administrators and colleagues
  • Attend required in-service days, meetings, and training sessions as designated
  • Have a professional desire to work in the classroom and to continue to develop teaching skills in the academic disciplines, as well as the ongoing work of social/emotional development of children
