Middle Division History Teacher

The school seeks a dedicated Middle Division History Teacher who has a passion for teaching middle school aged children and has superior content knowledge. The successful candidate will be able to teach Global Studies (at the 6th and 7th grade level) and United States History (at the 8th grade level) in an engaging, challenging, and fun way using current methodologies and Berkeley History and Religious Studies Department agreed upon standards.

Candidates must show a strong willingness to:

  • Receive feedback regularly, grow professionally and significantly contribute to the life of the school.
  • Deliver student-centered, engaging lessons for every class.
  • Demonstrate superior classroom management skills that exhibit student engagement as the key component.
  • Demonstrate superior content knowledge.
  • Design and arrange lessons that focus on developmental appropriateness and demonstrate the ability to regularly check for understanding.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and be reflective of and receptive to peer/chair/division administration coaching and / or feedback.
  • Understand and demonstrate successful learning by all students.
  • Engage with the professional community, commit to ongoing professional learning, collaborate productively, and promote the welfare of students. 

Compensation and Benefits

The appointment is a full-time position with full benefits. The compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience, degree attainment and the national independent school and college markets.
