As a member of the Faculty, the Spanish Instructor will:

  • Provide effective and innovative instruction, maintaining class activities in the target language
  • Maintain effective classroom management and execute effective instructional plans
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with using technology in the delivery of curriculum and instruction
  • Display experience with developing and delivering 21st Century teaching/learning methodologies
  • Be willing to inspire, empower, and work with students at all levels of language acquisition, particularly Spanish I- III
  • Possess the skills necessary to communicate effectively with CFS students, adults, and parents
  • Understand and welcome the complexity of teaching adolescent boys
  • Embrace enthusiastically the unique opportunities presented by a boarding school environment
  • Cultivate and maintain meaningful, professional relationships with students, families, and members of the CFS community
  • Help to promote and to maintain a sense of community and collaboration
  • Demonstrate support of the Mission of the School through time, dedication, personal example, actions, and attitude
  • Perform required faculty activities, including periodic weekday/evening/weekend duties, athletic coaching, and residential responsibilities
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for and joy in working closely with colleagues and students

*The position may be combined with residence and duty in a dormitory to create a full time position

CFS is seeking an enthusiastic individual to serve as a faculty member in the Foreign Language Department. This is a 10-month, part-time faculty position and requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.  A Master’s Degree and at least five years of teaching experience are preferred.  All faculty share responsibilities in the academic, athletic, residential, and co-curricular life of the School.

Specific responsibilities include language instruction at the Upper School level in a 21st Century learning environment.  The successful candidate will have broad knowledge of and experience with language learning across multiple levels and must be able to cultivate students’ facility with and abiding understanding of written and spoken Spanish and Spanish/Latin American culture.  Applicants should be skilled in integrating technology in instruction and in project-based learning methodology and should offer expertise in the development of our foreign language curriculum.

Additional responsibilities include advising students, attending regular faculty meetings and professional development opportunities, sponsoring clubs and extracurricular activities, coaching interscholastic teams or sponsoring after-school clubs, chaperoning school activities on and off campus, serving as an affiliate in regular dormitory duty, being an integrated member of the CFS community, and generally being available to students in our residential environment.
