Founded in 1960, Berkeley Preparatory School is a co-educational, Episcopal affiliated, independent, college preparatory school with a current enrollment of 1,340 students in grades Pre-K through 12.

F/T Upper Division English Teacher:

Berkeley Preparatory School is seeking to fill a vacancy in the Upper Division English Department for the 2019-2020 school year. The successful candidate will have the ability and willingness to teach multiple courses in the department and will be eager to work in a culturally and ethnically diverse environment.  

Areas of Emphasis:

  • Collegial Commitment to shared growth mindset and receptive to regular feedback
  • Grade-level team curriculum collaborator for skills-based writing/literature program
    • Backward planning and authentic assessment design and implementation
    • Scaffolded skills checklists and rubrics
    • Mix of formative/summative feedback/assessments
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of adolescent development and developmentally appropriate skills and content
  • Facilitate writing workshops and guided literary discussions, and provide timely regular formative and summative feedback. 

Compensation and Benefits:

The appointment is a full-time, position with full benefits. The compensation package will be very competitive nationally and commensurate with experience, degree attainment and the national independent school and college markets.
