Episcopal school chaplains and parish day school rectors in the Pacific Northwest are invited to this retreat for prayer, networking, and a conversation with the bishops of Olympia and Oregon on the "The Church's Ministry and School Ministry."
The registration deadline is Thursday, February 23, 2012, at 11:59 p.m. (EST).
Registration includes one night's housing (double occupancy), Monday reception and dinner, Tuesday breakfast and lunch, and all conference materials.
Who Should Attend:
This conference is designed for Episcopal school chaplains and parish day school rectors.
Tips for Making the Case for Attending:
Many travel budgets and training budgets have been cut, and some schools are experiencing severe financial problems. This means that regardless of the merits of a retreat, you may need to justify the expense when in previous years you may not have had to do so. So here are some things you might want to consider:
- Communicate to your head of school what topics will be discussed and what you will specifically bring back as the return for the investment.
- Offer to prepare and deliver a short presentation and Q&A session with your colleagues to share what you learned. This way others in your school will get the benefits of your attendance, too.
- Share the handouts with your colleagues. As an attendee, you have unlimited access to materials posted by speakers.
- Be ready with a plan that shows who will cover for you while you are attending the retreat.
We look forward to seeing you in Union.
Comfortable and casual attire, suitable for the Pacific Northwest in February, is suggested.
