St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks a culturally competent and responsive candidate to serve as Design and Innovation Teacher. This position requires a candidate with a passion for inspiring and supporting young people and a commitment to collaborating with colleagues. As an integral member of the Information Technology department, the Design and Innovation Teacher will share in the management and operations of the school’s IT hardware infrastructure, software systems infrastructure, and classroom technology support. The ideal candidate is a visionary thinker and will work to further develop a curriculum that teaches students to create, make, innovate, build and design in the STEM, Problem-Based Learning curriculum areas.
The Design and Innovation Teacher must welcome regular feedback, commit to professional development and contribute to the overall life of the school. This position provides duties including but not limited to:
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate Design Thinking principles into curricula.
- Assist students, faculty, and the community to be successful in their projects by providing support, expertise and experience.
- Train students and faculty on tools and equipment within the Innovation lab.
- Model a fundamental understanding of problem-based learning, design thinking, demonstrating an enthusiasm for taking risks and placing emphasis on process rather than product.
- Research and implement best practices in educational technology.
- Establish and maintain a well-organized Innovation lab that fosters curiosity and promotes collaboration in a safe environment for students and faculty.
- Plan and deliver faculty and staff development to support professional growth in educational technology.
- Supports the integration of information, communication, and technology literacy standards within the curriculum.
- Introduces the school to new technologies that have strong potential to support teaching and learning.
- Share in teaching middle school technology/computer science classes.

Together with the Director of IT, the teacher will focus on maintaining Chromebook inventory, tracking repairs for student devices, and assisting with the beginning of year rollout of student devices. Will work with the IT department on issues submitted to helpdesk.

The position is full-time, exempt, benefits-eligible and reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning & Director of Information Technology. The normal hours are M-F 7:30am – 4:00pm, pay is commensurate with experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of classroom experience, preferably in the STEAM subjects.
- Flexible teaching background and interest in coaching and/or advising clubs is a plus.
- Experience or familiarity with common STEAM lab tools and educational technology.
- Strong Google Apps for Education skills; Google Educator certification is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of the engineering process, design thinking and project-based learning.
