Director of Development

Objective: To oversee St. Andrew’s fundraising efforts; to support both the school’s annual and capital giving projects; and to serve as the principal support to the Associate Head of School for Advancement and Community Relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Director of Development

  • Oversee a portfolio of major gift prospects to cultivate, solicit, and steward our donor community.
  • Help build relationships with individuals and organizations to secure philanthropic support.
  • Collaborate with the database manager on the content of various reports (endowment, campaign, annual fund, financial, and donor) and oversee the creation of these reports in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Collaborate on reports and presentations for the Associate Head of School for Advancement and Community Relations to share with the Board of Trustees and Head of School.
  • Assist with the annual report on philanthropy.
  • Supervise the Director of Annual Giving, Donor Relations Associate, and Advancement and Alumni Coordinator.
  • Stay current on trends in independent school fundraising.
  • Take an active role in professional activities and attend relevant professional meetings and conferences.

Capital Campaign Coordinator

  • Conduct monthly campaign budget audits with the Controller.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Head of School for Advancement and Community Relations on campaign meetings and provide meeting support.
  • Work directly with the campaign chairs and cabinet to properly complete campaign asks..
  • Create and distribute solicitation packets for Trustees, Head of School, Associate Head of School for Advancement and Community Relations, and Campaign Cabinet members.
  • Create and distribute reports on campaign progress.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to ensure all campaign materials are consistent with the visual graphics guide and coordinate design elements.
  • Collaborate on fundraising communications including a quarterly donor newsletter.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional school environment.

Position Type:This is a full-time, twelve-month position. Occasional evening and weekend work as well as travel will be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of three years of development/fundraising experience preferred.
  • Proven success at networking and relationship building.
  • Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or relational database experience preferred.
  • Experience working effectively with volunteers, and strong commitment to meeting the needs of prospects, donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, parents, alumni, and guests.
  • Professional written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of cultural competence and demonstrated commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects efficiently and effectively without constant supervision.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite required.
