Director of Institutional Advancement

The Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for designing and implementing effective practices that elevate and advance the School community. As a member of the Senior  Administrative team, the Director reports to the Head of School, and  through collaboration with the Senior Administrative Team, directly oversees the following:

  • Capital Fund Raising, including Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns

  • Alumni and Parent Relations

  • Database Management

  • Volunteer Management

  • Special Events Management

Schedule: Standard office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM.  Incumbent may work non-standard hours as needed.

Reports to: Head of School

FLSA Status: Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a comprehensive Institutional Advancement plan with clearly defined objectives, timelines, and division of responsibilities.
  • Actively lead the Advancement Team toward effective execution of the following areas: alumni relations, parent relations, fundraising, special event planning, database management and volunteer management.
  • Develop strategic plans for each fundraising initiative, including annual fund and capital campaigns.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Senior Administrative Team and key departments, to ensure the development and growth of the School’s programs and regenerative sustainability.
  • Ensures the effective deployment of the Head of School, key members of the Administration Team and/or key volunteers in Advancement initiatives.
  • Promote professional development among members of the Advancement Team.
  • Work with the Head of School and Chief Financial Officer in the formulation of an annual Institutional Advancement budget and monitor budget throughout the year.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Communications/Marketing Department on institutional branding and messaging materials.
  • Construct, articulate and execute written annual Development plans.
  • Serve with Head of School as key spokespersons and advocate for the School, on campus and in the community.
  • Collaborate with the Head of School, Administrative Team, Advancement Team, and volunteers to plan and implement strategies to increase donor and volunteer engagement.
  • Serve as an active participant on the Head of School’s Senior Administrative Team.
  • Consistently aligns business objectives with the School’s mission, vision and values.
Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR LICENSES

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years’ experience in progressively responsible, non-profit Development leadership positions required, preferably within DFW Metroplex.
  • Professional leadership experience with a successful record of communications, fundraising and donor and volunteer engagement.
  • Prior experience leading a team with direct reports.
  • Proven success creating a collaborative and creative working environment that shares a  commitment to the mission of the School.
  • Experience securing large-scale gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Demonstrated experience executing a successful major capital campaign and annual fundraising plan.
  • Ability to apply current trends in Development, prospect discovery, fundraising, alumni relations, and strategic marketing.
  • Ability to influence a wide range of donors and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to build long term relationships, adapting to a variety of donor situations and expectations.
  • Exceptional project management skills; goal driven; detail-oriented; and the ability to set and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree and CFRE certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Independent School culture.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for Fort Worth culture.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Wrist and hand movement related to computer work
  • Remain in stationary position 75% of the time
  • Ability to be mobile campus wide for appropriate business needs

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in-person, primarily indoors and during regular business hours with occasional evening hours.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate in other situations.  Work is performed in all weather conditions, including temperature extremes.
