Early Childhood/Elementary Guidance Counselor
St. Martin’s Episcopal School is looking for a Guidance Counselor for the 2020-2021 academic year, to support 2 year-olds through 1st grade. We seek candidates who support our mission and are culturally competent and responsive.
Responsibilities include: providing a comprehensive counseling program for children in 2’s through 1st grade; consulting with teachers, parents and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; supporting students’ success; providing appropriate referrals and monitoring progress; and providing support to other Early Childhood and Elementary educational programs. This position will report to both Early Childhood and Elementary School principals and may include other duties as needed. This is a full-time position with benefits, with a schedule of Monday-Thursday from 7:15am-4:00pm.
Applicants must have: a degree in guidance and counseling; the ability to develop strong, empathetic relationships with students and their families; the ability to effectively guide teachers through a variety of student skills, behavior, and developmental processes; and outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates should be experienced professionals who embrace working in a highly collaborative, collegial environment to support child development.
