St. Martin’s is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher for its primary division, which includes Toddlers (2s), Beginners (3s), and Pre-K students (4/5s). This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with an August 2024 start date. We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for working with students at the early childhood level. This person must be able to teach a developmentally age-appropriate and stimulating curriculum.

A Lead Teacher is responsible for creating an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth; establishing effective rapport with students; motivating students to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student’s ability; and establishing good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Essential Functions
The Teacher has the primary responsibility for all classroom activities, as well as the management, organization, and discipline of the classroom.

●Operates the classroom in compliance with all Georgia child care licensing standards, and St. Martin’s Episcopal School’s Faculty and Staff and Parent/Student Handbooks.

●Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engage in meaningful learning experiences that are appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of students.

●Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division’s basic instructional and philosophical standards.

●Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to effectively and actively engage students.

●Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities and materials that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students.

●Demonstrates proficiency with technology and a willingness to integrate modern technology, media and other tools into classroom instruction.

●Seeks regular field experience opportunities for students that extend the classroom into the broader community.

●Works collaboratively with the teaching team on behalf of students, and participates in regular brainstorming sessions with colleagues as an integral part of effective planning.

●Establishes and maintains expectations of student behavior through relationship, positive reinforcement and support.

●Consistently assesses student achievement through formal and informal testing and evaluation and keeps required records.

●Communicates regularly and thoroughly with parents by conducting parent conferences, updating the class web page and tadpoles for teachers, planning and attending special events, holding meetings, and through emails and telephone calls.

●Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and community members.

●Attends all grade level, departmental and required School meetings, including Open House, Admissions Testing Days, as well as organizes and attends Parent Night.

●Performs duties, as requested by the Division Principal which may include, but is not limited to, carpool duties, lunch duty and recess duties.

●Assists in assessing changing curricular needs and plans for improvement through participation in curricular committees.

●Adheres to all School policies, including safety and emergency procedures.

● Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications Education and Experience
●Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience and/or training working in an Early Childhood classroom.

●Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

●Candidates must show a strong willingness to receive feedback regularly, grow professionally, significantly contribute to the life of the school, and will be committed to working in a culturally and ethnically diverse environment.

●Desire to plan and work collaboratively on a team is essential.

● Have a genuine desire and ability to “connect” with students.

Physical Requirements
This job is performed inside; the noise level can be soft to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
