St. Mark’s Episcopal School is conducting a search for a full- or part-time guidance counselor.
St. Mark’s, established in 1979, is a coeducational parish day school, serving over 475 students from age two through Grade 8 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The foundation of St. Mark’s program is to provide students with balanced exposure to academics, arts, athletics, and spiritual life.
The Guidance Counselor, in collaboration with the program leaders, is responsible for fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning. The guidance counselor will oversee issues pertaining to the well-being of students in PK2 – 8th grade during their attendance at St. Mark’s Episcopal School.
Responsibilities:
• Works with the Head of School and Heads of Divisions to develop and manage academic and social policies, protocols, and practices that serve to support student development, learning, health, and safety for all students
• Provides character education opportunities that promote high standards and expectations for academic performance, student leadership, personal integrity, and community responsibility
• Oversees emotional wellness and counseling systems
• Collaborates with the Heads of Divisions to provide short term student counseling, when necessary, and work closely with other team members and support personnel beyond school faculty
• Serves a source for evaluation and recommendation of outside resources for students and families
• Collaborates with Heads of Divisions to monitor behavioral support plans for students
• Works with parents through conferences and other meetings to support student wellness
• Schedules special programs and events in support of emotional health for attendance by the student body such as assemblies, etc.
• Collaborates with Heads of Divisions to plan and implement parent education opportunities
Professional Qualifications:
• Holds a bachelors or advanced degree in a related field with LCSW or LMHC credentials preferred
• Dedicated to being a student advocate
• 5+ years of experience in education
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated success as a confident problem solver
• Proven track record as an independent and goal-oriented team member
