Job Summary & Description

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School is seeking a dynamic PK3 teacher passionate about teaching and who loves working with young children. The ideal candidate should have a background in early childhood education and experience working with young children in a school setting. The candidate should also have a forward-thinking mindset and be willing to embrace innovative practices and evidence-based instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Incorporate a student-driven project following The Project Approach two to three times a year. 
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for young children, encouraging exploration, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
  • Develop relationships with parents, maintaining open communication channels to ensure each child’s success in the classroom.
  • Assess student progress through ongoing observation and documentation of student learning, providing feedback to parents and using data to adjust instruction as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, participating in professional development opportunities and sharing best practices to improve instruction and support the school’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with young children in a school setting and familiarity with evidence-based instructional practices.
  • A passion for teaching and a love for working with young children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • A forward-thinking mindset that embraces innovative practices and new teaching methods.
