Anticipated Base Compensation Depending on Experience: $75,070 – $140,976 per annum

Position Summary Description

The Bishop’s School seeks a full-time Middle School Humanities Teacher beginning August 2024. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching English and history as well as a strong foundation in developmentally appropriate teaching strategies for middle school students. In addition to classroom teaching, this position will serve as an advisor to a group of sixth grade students. We seek candidates who are enthusiastic to participate on a grade-level team that facilitates collaboration with other sixth grade teachers and advisors to support students and to design aligned curriculum across the grade level.

An Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in English, history or a related field is required;
• A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in English, history or both subjects to students in grades 5-8 is strongly preferred;
• Interest in supporting current co-curricular programs and professional learning communities;

• Unequivocal passion for working with adolescents and supporting them in all facets of their lives;
• Demonstrated commitment to and competency in diversity, equity, inclusion and justice;
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction;
• Eagerness to collaborate with other department and grade-level team members in creating meaningful, relevant, learner-centered classroom experiences;
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community;
• Strong work ethic, as well as time management, verbal, written language, and interpersonal skills;
• Irrespective of own religious orientation, the ability to support the School’s mission and values as a school founded in the Episcopal tradition;
• Commitment to well-being as the foundation for growth.
