Middle School Math & Computer Science Teacher

Trinity Episcopal School is seeking a Middle School Math and Computer Science Teacher effective immediately. This 10-month, full-time employee reports directly to the Middle School Head. As a member of the middle school faculty, the middle school math teacher will teach various levels of math to students in grades six through eight, and two computer science/problem solving enrichment courses. Middle school teachers also fulfill the role of student advisor and will shepherd ten to twelve students in grades six through eight as their Koinonia (Greek for fellowship) leader. Our highly relational advisory program requires someone with significant emotional intelligence. Our collaborative decision making process is best served by someone who has a commitment to the school’s mission and its community. Finally, like all other faculty, the middle school math teacher will assist the overall educational efforts of the school by participating whenever and wherever he/she can.  The Middle School Math Teacher supports the work of the School by promoting the mission, values, and policies of Trinity Episcopal School.

Primary  Responsibilities: The Middle School Math/Computer Science Teacher’s primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Teach several math classes in grades 6, 7, 8 as assigned
  • Teach two computer science courses to 6th and 7th grade students
  • Design and update curriculum for all classes taught
  • Communicate with families through report cards and conversations
  • Plan for the accommodation of learning differences via the usage of appropriate technology tools, i.e. adaptive/assistive devices, audio recordings, etc.
  • Facilitate a Koinonia group
  • Cover recess, lunch and carpool duties on a rotating basis as a member of the MS instructional team
  • Attend all field trips, service learning outings, community events and gatherings and serendipitous learning opportunities
  • All other duties as assigned by the Head of Middle School

Education and Work Experience

  • Previous teaching experience in a middle school is preferred
  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Math or a related field

Skills and Qualifications

  • While this is primarily a math and computer science position, a broad, generalist background in teaching would be a plus
  • Ability to partner with other teachers in the department in order to help deliver a cohesive program for students 
  • Ability to prepare unit plans, daily lesson plans, classroom materials and assessments
  • Preferred experience using the following digital learning programs: Google Workplace for Education, Code.org 
  • Preferred experience with one or more of the following technologies: 3D printing, Dash robots, Lego WeDo 2.0 robotics, Sphero robots, ClassVR
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, writing, organizational and communication skills
