St. George Episcopal School is an independent Episcopal day school with a vision to empower servant leaders with wisdom, courage, faith, and love to make a positive impact locally and globally. We seek a Middle School Math Teacher to join our teaching team and community.
The Middle School Math Teacher reports directly to the Head of Middle School. This person will work closely with other faculty, administrators, staff members, as well as parents and other community members as well.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide appropriate and exceptional academic preparation to all students in an inclusive Christian community, fostering love and respect for God, self, and others, in accordance with the policies and procedures established for the School. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to
- provide engaging and challenging classroom instruction and experiences
- work within vertical teams, departments, divisions, and grade level to ensure consistently high standards within the instructional program;
- collaborate with colleagues to develop and maintain an engaging, vertically aligned, accelerated curriculum;
- create and share instructional road maps and lesson plans;
- effectively and appropriately communicate with students, parents, administration, and colleagues;
- provide appropriate supervision of students at all times;
- actively encourage, strategize, develop and assist in ways that foster positive academic, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical growth and development;
- participate in assigned duties and in the life of the school community;
- effectively uses school management software systems and other technological tools;
- follow all school rules and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Successful teaching experience (minimum 3 years) in independent schools a plus
- Genuine interest in and love for middle school students
- Knowledgeable about middle school students and their developmental needs
- Experience working in independent schools is a plus
- Proficient in Google Suite and related applications
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive subjects and situations with tact, kindness, and professionalism
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and collegially
- Willingness to invest in the life of the school community
- Demonstrated high ethical and professional standards
- Sense of humor and a positive attitude
