Trinity Episcopal School is seeking a full-time Physical Education / Wellness Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.

Overview
The ideal candidate will be passionate and committed to promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and working with youth in this capacity. A physical education teacher at Trinity is willing to go beyond the call of duty and contribute wholeheartedly to the program. We are looking for a professional who is energetic, has a positive attitude, and is a self-starter with the confidence to take initiative. The ability to work well on a cohesive team and be a positive contributing member of a strong community of professionals is a must.
Further, we seek candidates who are creative and flexible, and have strong organizational and classroom management skills and the ability to work with large groups. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary in order to develop interpersonal relationships with faculty, parents, and students. We are interested in individuals who approach their responsibilities with a sense of humor, enthusiasm, responsibility, and professionalism.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school. Must exhibit superior coaching/teaching skills, excellent character, and experience working with children in a formal athletics or PE program.
Responsibilities include:
- Support and uphold the School’s PE objectives and philosophy in accordance with the mission of the school.
- Teach four or more K-8 wellness classes with a wide range of student abilities. Conduct classes with a focus on different types of body movement, including but not limited to different styles of yoga and mindfulness.
- Encourage students to pursue activities that promote their physical, emotional, and mental health and well-being.
- Facilitate individual and team goal setting with middle school students in the areas of yoga, body weight movement, and lifetime sports. Assist students in developing motor and social skills. Cultivate an interest in being active and engaged. .
- Assess and maintain written records of individual student development, which may include but is not limited to, entering student grades into the school database, writing narratives and sending written postcards.
- Attend department meetings and all school Faculty and Staff meetings
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to design and develop a Lower School and Middle School Wellness curriculum that emphasizes core strength, mental clarity, awareness of mind and breath, healthy movement and self-expression.
- Communicate and collaborate with colleagues and parents about skills progress, participation, and behavior.
- Be a positive role model for students exemplifying an active, healthy lifestyle.
- Seek professional development in the field.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by Trinity, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Collaborate and work effectively with other physical education teachers.
- Participate in the life of the school and be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Physical Education.
