Preschool Assistant Teacher

REPORTS TO: Head of Lower School & Assistant Head of Lower School

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt 

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (in Early Childhood Education preferred)

FUNCTION:  Assist the lead teacher in planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom instruction and student behaviors consistent with St. Mark’s mission and philosophy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure the safety and security of Preschool children. 
• Demonstrate effective classroom management, assisting the lead teacher in utilizing learning centers or student workstations and differentiating and individualizing instruction and developing student behavior modification techniques.
• Maintain open and professional communication with parents.
• Be proficient in using classroom technology to assist the lead teacher as needed.
• Teach and ensure proper hygiene of PreK children.  
• Accompany students to enrichment activities.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in professional development opportunities to learn and utilize tools and techniques that improve classroom effectiveness.
• Support recruitment and re-enrollment efforts.
