Purpose:
The Program Director/ Head Football Coach is responsible for shaping and guiding all aspects of the football program. The head coach must be a dynamic, innovative, and inspirational leader with a demonstrated commitment and passion for working with young people and collaborating with parents, faculty, administration, and colleagues. He will emphasize the positives, demonstrate a winning attitude, model exceptional sportsmanship, and will be a skilled teacher of fundamentals, strategy, and character. He will support the school’s mission in providing opportunities for each student to develop his full potential spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.

Direct Reports:
Varsity Assistants, Sub-Varsity and Middle School Football Coaches

Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree minimum; preference in a teaching field: OPEN
5 years of Coaching Experience with a preference of 3 years’ experience as a Head Varsity Coach.
Proficient in MS Suite of programs, Google
Experience utilizing Hudl as the video operating base for filming
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
Experience with speaking in public settings.
Self-motivated, flexible, and detail oriented.
Ability to think strategically.
Sound problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
Willingness to serve as an advocate for the school.
Ability to inspire staff and serve as a role model to employees as well as students.

Essential Functions:
Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the Football Program:
-Design and implementation of practice and game day strategies, schedules, and activities.
Develop the game-day routine.
Practice design for pre-season, in-season activities within the guidelines established by the Athletic Department.
Assist with game schedules including seasonal and summer scheduling issues.
Assist Director of Athletics with transportation and lodging for teams as requested.
Delegate support staff such as managers and videographers.
-Management of uniform and equipment inventory.
Determine appropriate uniform needs, and ensure adherence to defined purchasing process.
Work with equipment manager to maintain and manage equipment inventory.
-Protection and support of student athletes.
Work closely with the school’s Athletic Training staff to assure the safety of all players.
Assist the Director of Sports Performance in developing the strength/conditioning plan for the program both in-season and off-season.
Support and guide student-athletes throughout the college recruiting process.
Identify prospective families / student-athletes.
-Coordination of pre and post season activities
Conduct pre-season parent meeting.
Provide assistance as needed for the post-season awards dinner.
-Support the Episcopal School of Dallas and the Athletic Department’s guidelines, tenets and philosophies.
Provide recommendations for hiring, training, and mentoring to the Director of Athletics for the coaching staff.

Additional Responsibilities
Attend all Departmental scheduled Coaches Meetings
Attend Special programs established by The Athletic Department
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Head of School

Abuse Risk Management Standards:
Adheres to policies related to boundaries with students.
Attends required abuse risk management training.
Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising students.
Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Working Environment:
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
Generally 25% sitting, 40% walking and 35% standing.
Temperature variations to include seasonal outdoor conditions.
Coaching duties occasionally involve strenuous physical activity.
