Christchurch School is a co-ed Episcopal boarding and day school serving grades 9—12. Founded in 1921, Christchurch is located on a 125-acre waterfront campus on the Rappahannock River in Virginia. Position Overview. Christchurch School seeks a Spanish teacher.  We are looking for people who foster an inclusive workplace built on equitable policies and procedures, and who are also able to engage a diverse team of co-workers and students. Our Spanish department features an innovative curriculum in which students take mastery-based classes at the foundational level, and then choose from a menu of elective options in their pursuit of higher-level Spanish.  Opportunities to lead immersion experiences in Guatemala and other global destinations are available. 

Requirements and Qualifications.

  • Qualified candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field, and ideally have experience abroad. Formal education training and teaching experience are desirable, as is prior coaching experience.
  • Near native or native fluency desirable.
  • Candidates should be realistic and excited about the challenges and rewards of teaching and living in a boarding school. In particular, this position is also expected to coach two out of three seasons, act as an advisory to a student advisory group, and do evening and weekend duty on a rotating basis.
  • Candidates should be realistic and excited about working with students who have a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels.
  • The person in this position will teach a normal course load of four classes.
