St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks a culturally competent and responsive faculty member to support, develop, facilitate, and evaluate STEAM integration in the core curriculum of grades PreK-8 beginning August 2022.  The duties and responsibilities of the STEAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STEAM with guidance and support from the STEAM Coordinator, and collaboration with teachers to integrate age-appropriate, multi-disciplinary STEAM experiences into the core curriculum from Pre-school to Grade 8.  This is a full-time position with benefits.  Salary is dependent upon education, training, and experience and is commensurate with other independent schools in the area.

About You

The instructor will design, model, and deliver rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math across a wide range of age groups.  This will require designing lessons that emphasize critical thinking, creativity, innovation and problem-solving following a problem-based/ project-based learning approach.

The ideal candidate will be committed to designing student-centered learning experiences that incorporate a wide range of interests and inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in students at all ages.  The successful candidate will also possess a knowledge and understanding of the engineering process, design thinking and project-based learning, deep knowledge of developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and lesson design in grades preK-8, and experience or familiarity with common STEAM lab tools and educational technology.

Preferred candidates will have at least a bachelor’s degree in education (master’s degree preferred) as well as three or more years of teaching experience; preferably in the STEAM subjects.  A demonstrated ability to integrate educational technology in the classroom is required.  Also required are highly effective communication, listening, collaboration and interpersonal skills, strong planning, organization, and time management skills.  Strong Google Apps for Education skills is a plus; Google Educator certification is preferred.
