St. Paul’s School Fine Arts program is seeking a teacher of Photography, Digital Media, and Printmaking to assume three sections of Photography, and one section of Printmaking. The position provides faculty coverage for a colleague who will be on leave from mid-January through mid-May.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires a desire to embrace the Fine Arts model at St. Paul’s School, which includes a primary focus on the artist as instructor. Courses in the studio arts work from a foundation built on a thorough technical introduction to a given medium followed by project based exercises that meet students’ particular creative endeavors. The Fine Arts program and the physical arrangements of the studio spaces are designed to encourage exploration of the artistic process between media. Instructors are encouraged to use their own work as part of a curriculum.

St. Paul’s School seeks an instructor in Photography, Digital Media, and Printmaking for students in both the introductory and intermediate High School level. Experience in teaching film development and digital scanning are essential for this position. A teaching background in a range of two dimensional media are recommended. Faculty members in the Fine Arts Program value collegiality; candidates for a Fine Arts position must be willing to work closely with a team of teachers. As with all positions, St. Paul’s School seeks innovative educators who are eager to participate in the academic program of this dynamic residential community.

Though the ideal candidate would live in residence on campus, fulfilling other responsibilities in advising, residential duties, and extracurricular activities, the School will also consider those who might be able to cover the teaching responsibilities only or some combination with other faculty duties without living in residence. However, given the current Covid-19 environment this position might require living in on-campus housing and following the guidelines established to create a safe and healthy environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree (or higher) preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years of teaching experience is preferred. As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be committed to working and living with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
