Upper School Transitional English/ELL Teacher

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, a day and boarding school of 705 students (grades 6-12), is seeking an Upper School Transitional English Teacher & International/ELL Student Support for a full-time position beginning August 2023.

Candidates should have a degree in ELL/English (or a closely related field) and a minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably in grades 9-12.

We are seeking a colleague who thrives in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is eager to work closely with international students and can demonstrate the ability to work as part of a cohesive team.

– Teaching two sections of Transitional English for ELL students (English 9T and English 10T);
Collaborating with colleagues in the English Department and sharing pedagogical resources with faculty;
– Providing ongoing support for international and domestic ELL students in mainstream writing-intensive classes, consulting with faculty about continued student progress, and participating in staff conferences in the International Office;
– Participating in the planning and execution of International Office-sponsored events, including FACES, the school’s multicultural organization;
– Advising a group of six to eight students who meet with their advisor on a daily basis;
– Attending Chapel, proctoring study halls, and participating in a family-style lunch program.
