Join your Episcopal school chaplain colleagues for two days of learning, reflection, worship, and networking. The NAES Chaplains' Retreat balances and blends opportunities for professional learning and growth, personal reflection, prayer and worship, and spiritual self-care. Leave renewed and refreshed, equipped with a network of colleagues and fresh ideas to take back to your school.

General Session Speaker and Facilitator:

Ross Kane
The Rev. Ross Kane, Ph.D.
Director of Doctoral Programs and Assistant Professor of Theology, Ethics, and Culture
Virginia Theological Seminary

Dr. Kane’s scholarship explores the lived experience of faith communities, particularly the incorporation of new and unfamiliar expressions of belief and practice into the Christian tradition. Dr. Ross brings an international perspective to his scholarship and vocation, having served in the Anglican Communion in East Africa before entering parish ministry, most recently as senior associate rector at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alexandria Virginia.

He holds bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, a Master of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School, and a doctorate in religious studies, concentrating in theology, ethics and culture, also from the University of Virginia.

Ross' experience of Anglicanism, worldwide, and his work with school chaplains in the Doctor of Ministry Program in Educational Leadership at VTS, uniquely equips him to lead us in looking at various models of Anglican school chaplaincy.
