QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Must have Bachelor’s degree or Higher- you will not be considered without

FCCPC (Florida Child Care Professional credential)

Knowledge of and implement STAR accreditation and state licensing procedures

High level communication and interpersonal skills

Proven leadership, as well as managerial and organizational skills

A track record for being flexible, approachable and inspiring positive collaboration

Demonstrated ability to relate sensitively to children, parents and staff

Openness to, and interest in, the spiritual formation of children

Computer and email proficiency

Maintains Child and Adult CPR certification and First Aid certification

Have annual Florida licensing Federal background check and other required documentation

Maintains licensing regulations including child abuse reporting and identification requirements

The Head of Early Childhood is responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of the

Preschool (Grades Pk1 -Pk4, 159 Students), including curriculum development, staff hiring and management, communication, parent relations, budget development and oversight, ensuring adherence to licensing and state regulations, maintain STAR quality guidelines and other duties which may be identified on an ongoing basis. The Head of Early Childhood is a spiritual leader, attends worship services, has a spiritual practice and is committed to children’s spiritual development. The Head of Early Childhood is part of the Executive Academic Team and reports directly to the Head of School and Assistant Head of School.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Oversight

  • Lead and develop team Teachers, Aides, Volunteers
  • Interview, hire and guide new teachers and support staff
  • Observe teachers and advise on their classroom leadership, team collaboration, and

curriculum implementation, parent relationships and adherence to the mission of the Preschool

  • Work with staff to set individual goals and education plans
  • Conduct formal performance reviews and lead staff meetings
  • Identify personnel problems and take appropriate action as deemed necessary

Student Recruitment and Enrollment

  • support marketing, advertising and recruitment plans as needed to maintain optimal school

enrollment in collaboration with the Admissions Department

  • Conduct tours for prospective families as needed

Communication and Parent Relations

  • Communications with parents, keep families informed of school activities, needs, and events
  • Draft and disseminate Parent Surveys and from feedback continually improve the program
  • Support the website and other social media presence through content as requested by

marketing and communications

Business Management

  • Plan for equipment purchases as well as playground and accreditation expenses
  • Work collaboratively with the school maintenance and facilities steam to oversee Preschool

property needs and capital improvement projects

  • Oversee the annual Preschool Calendar, schedule school events, community-building/social

events

Organizational Leadership

  • Serve as an organizational leader, maintaining professional relationships with senior

leadership team.

  • Attend regular status meetings with the Head of School
  • Attend scheduled Meetings
  • Attend monthly NAES Early Learning Coalition meetings

* Attend and active in the local Preschool Director’s meetings and other Early Childhood events

  • Work with the advancement board on Preschool fundraisers

Health Standards

  • Ensure that child and staff health documents are in order
  • Oversee the planning and preparation of nutritional snacks
  • Keep the school environment healthy and safe in accordance with licensing
  • Set and oversee Emergency and Health & Safety plans
  • Schedule training required by state licensing such as First Aid, CPR, Medication and other

trainings

  • Oversee the Preschool’s adherence to the Office of Early Childhood licensing standards and

file reports as required

  • Seek the expertise of other professionals and experts (including early childhood, social

services, health and assessment support professionals, other early childhood experts to

enhance the quality of the Preschool and ensure the curriculum is adequately preparing its

preschoolers for kindergarten through training and consultation
