Description
Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School, an independent school in Saratoga, CA, is seeking a full-time Kindergarten Lead Teacher beginning in August 2024. The lead teacher is responsible for instruction in language arts, math, and social studies. Further, the teacher is attuned to the specific learning needs and social-emotional development of each student. As the central figure in the network of adults supporting each child, the teacher maintains ongoing communications, formal and informal, with parents, specialist teachers, and administrators. The Kindergarten Lead Teacher works with the support of an Assistant Teacher.

Essential Functions:
The duties of the Kindergarten Lead Teacher include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and teach developmentally appropriate lessons and activities to meet student needs
- Assist students with developing emotional/social skills, embracing their evolving identity, and recognizing their individual worth
- Establish a classroom environment with clear and consistent routines and expectations to promote student autonomy and engagement
- Ensure the safety of each student by supervising arrival, dismissal, recess, and transitions between classrooms
- Create differentiated learning experiences aligned with formative assessments
- Contribute to interdisciplinary curriculum design and student support strategies with the grade-level team and specialist teachers
- Partner with the learning services team to design and implement support plans to help student success in and out of the classroom
- Embrace the use of technology
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences
- Develop strong relationships with other faculty and staff to support student success
- Participate in, and help support, Back to School Nights, student conferences, graduation, and admissions events as appropriate
- Engage in ongoing professional development experiences, including out-of-the-area opportunities, throughout the calendar year (including summer) as directed and supported by the administration
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Move around campus and participate in student field trips
Requirements
Desired Qualifications & Characteristics
- Undergraduate degree required; MA, MEd, or MS in education or a related field and/or a teaching credential preferred
- Experience working with elementary school students and families in a nurturing and supportive manner
- Excellent knowledge of child development, latest education theories and practices, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and current trends in education and professional development
- Strong interpersonal skills
- An enthusiastic and strong work ethic
- Collaborative
- Planning and organizing skills
- Commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth
- Independent school experience
- A demonstrated understanding of the Responsive Classroom approach and integrated language arts, mathematics, and social studies curricula
Salary range: $75,000-118,000
