Civic engagement as individuals and institutions plays a foundational role in our society and common life together. Join this program to explore two fundamental dynamics that can help us lean into our responsibilities for civic engagement and navigate this topic during this moment in our country.
First, we may be familiar with the term civil discourse, but how well do we understand its use in building a culture for engagement? We will first explore capacity building for civil discourse and how conversation to enhance our understanding can build our ability to engage across difference, leverage our diversity, and tackle community challenges.
We will then explore the role of relationship building for The Episcopal Church’s LEAPS of faith in public witness: Litigation, Education, Advocacy, Prayer, and Service. These are the key actions for our work in the public square to support people in our communities and around the world. Behind all of these tools are relationships between institutions that help us to lean into our particular strengths as we address societal challenges.
Participants will leave with strategies to foster dialogue, build partnerships, and lead with purpose in the public square—insights that are especially valuable for Episcopal school communities seeking to model justice, compassion, and courageous leadership.
