The Church Farm School is an independent boarding and day school for boys in grades 9-12 in the Episcopal tradition. Founded in 1918 and located in Exton, PA, Church Farm School prepares a diverse group of boys with academic ability and good character to lead productive and fulfilling lives by making a college preparatory education financially accessible. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Church Farm School seeks an experienced School Chaplain. The Chaplain must be an enthusiastic, engaging, collaborative and dedicated professional who can serve the varying needs of our highly diverse population in an all-boys and largely residential high school setting. The CFS School Chaplain is focused on supporting the spiritual well-being of our students and will nurture the development of students’ intellectual, social and emotional well-being through the chapel program, including responsibility for the school’s community service program. All CFS faculty share responsibilities in the academic, athletic, residential and co-curricular life of the school. Full-time faculty teach, advise and have evening and weekend affiliate duties in the dormitories. Individuals who will enhance our community’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply. This is a 9-month, full-time faculty position and requires a minimum of a master’s degree oriented to ministry specifically with youth.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A master’s degree in divinity or Youth Ministry
  • Familiarity if not grounding in the Episcopal Church tradition
  • Ordination preferred but not required
  • At least three years’ experience in a school setting or as a Chaplain in related work settings

All candidates must have some experience working in a culturally diverse, adolescent environment, demonstrate ability to nurture the development of students’ emotional and social skills, develop their sense of personal agency/accountability, while also helping them to respond compassionately and ethically to the world around them.

 The successful candidate will have:

  • Cultural competence and DEI affinity with an understanding and appreciation of working with constituents across varied backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • A shared understanding of the CFS mission and a demonstrated commitment to working with administrators and colleagues in a student-centered, adult-driven school setting.

 Additional responsibilities include serving as an affiliate in a dorm/or offering evening drop in hours, teaching up to two classes, working with the Student Support Team and attending faculty meetings and professional development opportunities.

 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Embody and translate Episcopal identity within a diverse, interdenominational and multifaith community where respecting the dignity of every human being is valued.
  • Organize and lead regular Wednesday and Sunday chapel worship services, coordinating with the school’s organist and musicians.
  • Lead the Community Service Program.
  • Teach up to two classes: religion or philosophy.
  • Lead the Chapel Council.
  • Provide pastoral guidance and care for students.
  • Foster the total personal and spiritual growth of students through regular devotional activities, prayer and community service.
  • Develop relationships with the broader Episcopal community (NAES and Diocese of PA).
  • Work closely with the Student Life team and School Counselor, collaborating on overall well-being for the students and the community at large.
  • Work closely with teachers, staff and parents to promote the personal and spiritual growth of students.
  • Report to the Head of School.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to support the stated mission and overall program of the school through time, dedication, personal example, actions and attitude.
  • Cultivate and maintain meaningful, professional relationships with students, families and all members of the CFS community.
  • Help to promote positive school culture, maintain a sense of community and build collaboration with students and faculty.
