St. Paul’s Day School in Westfield, New Jersey is seeking a Lead Teacher for our Full Day Fabulous Fours programs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in the classroom, who loves to work with children, and is eager to join a team of top-notch teachers. This position follows a school-year calendar from September to June, with approximately 165 school days.

*This position is for the 2024-2025 school year.

This person is responsible for the general supervision and instruction of a classroom.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching Certification
  • or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

General Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with school policies; submit weekly lesson plans to the Director
  • Assess children’s development and learning using developmentally appropriate tools to measure student progress; share bi-annual progress reports with families
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each child with concern for each child’s interests, abilities, style and pace of learning; know every child’s strengths and needs
  • Foster each child’s sense of identity, belonging, and citizenship
  • Practice professional ethics in regard to students, parents and staff; treat each child with dignity and respect
  • Communicate regularly with classroom families using newsletters, emails, conversations, and individual touch points; conduct bi-annual family conferences
  • Arrange the classroom to meet the developmental needs of young children; maintain a clean, orderly and visually appealing classroom environment
  • Assume an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities by the entire staff
  • Handle confidential medical and emergency response information
  • Attend weekly meetings led by the Head Teacher
  • Attend monthly staff meetings
  • Attend and participate in school functions, including Back to School Night
  • Arrange substitute coverage when out of school for personal or sick time
  • Complete 12 staff development hours annually per State licensing regulations
  • Obtain certification in CPR, AED, first aid and EpiPen use
  • Attend the Abuse Awareness workshop given by the Episcopal Diocese of NJ
  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the staff manual and the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers

This position is scheduled for less than 1,000 hours per year and is not eligible for benefits.
