St. Martin’s Episcopal School is seeking a culturally competent and responsive candidate to serve as the Student Support Services Director. The Student Support Services Director works closely with multiple stakeholders to provide appropriate academic support to students, parents, and faculty members. This role must have a demonstrated understanding of methods, tools and techniques to enhance student learning and development. The Student Support Services Director is a champion of student success and is committed to building strong relationships, maintaining a growth mindset and remaining abreast of trends and industry best practices in student services.

The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following essential functions:

● Partner with the EC and LS Director of Teaching and Learning and the MS Director of Design and Innovation to ensure teachers have access to strategies to help serve the learning needs of all students.

● Evaluate processes for identifying students who may be in need of support

● Collaborate with the EC Reading and math lab teacher to identify PreK/K students who may be in need of additional math and literacy support

● Use data and best practices to determine intervention for students and design support for teachers and parents around those interventions

● Administer rating scales and other screening tools (CTOP, Woodcock-Johnson) to help determine a student’s learning needs and plan for success

● Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment Management to support the school admissions process

● Maintain communication with the Director of Kairos and share student progress as students transition in and out of the Kairos program

● Coordinate communication with parents and teachers to discuss student learning plans

● Initiate individual or small groups as needed to support students that require additional support beyond classroom instruction

● Provide timely communication to parents and teachers to address areas of student growth and/or concern.

● Regularly observe classrooms, providing strategic guidance to teachers where appropriate

● Help facilitate the academic transitions along with division heads as students move through the school

● Work with parents, principals, Support Service personnel, and faculty members to place students with afternoon tutors to meet their specific academic needs and monitor the progress of the students in afternoon tutoring sessions.

● Coordinate the schedule for outside practitioners, such as Speech and Language therapy, to provide services on campus.

● Communicate with afternoon tutors to ensure they are providing monthly reports to parents and Student Support Services.

● Create and maintain summaries of psycho-educational evaluations so that the appropriate information is shared with teachers and division heads. This information is updated and reviewed annually with families, students, and grade-level teachers.

● Actively take part in Student Support meetings and school-wide CARE team meetings and grade-level meetings

Required Qualifications

● Master’s Degree or above in Education, Psychology or a related field

● A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience serving as a Learning Specialist or similar role

● Previous experience in an Independent school setting

Schedule The position is a 10-month, benefits-eligible Administrative position. The role follows the typical school calendar and will adhere to a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm. The position is Exempt.

This job is performed inside; the noise level is quiet. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
