Due, in part, to the grant provided by NAES, St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston’s Leadership Team has undertaken a multi-year, in depth study of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at St. Mark’s. The purpose of St. Mark’s DEIB journey is because belonging is foundational to living our mission.
In Year 1, we’ve accomplished having a common and shared vocabulary and agreement on how we talk about DEIB and the School’s mission. We also have increased skills to broaden our perspectives beyond our live experiences to form deeper connections with social identities, cultural humility and cultural competence. We also have a strong commitment to our willingness to grow and change as a result of a broader range of perspectives.
